Remember earlier this week when I talked about Sarah Palin’s ridiculous call for “peace-loving Muslims” to “refudiate” the mosque at ground zero? Remember how I said this was going to just feed the fear in idiotic Americans and wasn’t really what we need as a country? Well here’s a perfect example of why I said that:
I hope that no TV station ever runs this ad. I’d like to believe that even Fox News isn’t this low. But you know the real sad thing? There’s enough “every day Americans” out there that believe this ad. And truth be told, the way Sarah Palin is talking…she’s one of them.
Now watch as ZERO conservatives come out to condemn this ad.
Sarah Palin set the blogosphere on fire when she made up the word “refudiate” in a tweet she put out. The sad part is, that has distracted everyone else from the truly horrendous substance of what she was trying to say. Palin butchering the English language really isn’t a news story. She promotes herself as “folksy” which is just another word for being an uneducated moron. So her butchering the English language then trying to excuse it away by saying other people like Shakespeare also made up their own words isn’t really surprising. But it is a good distraction from the meat of what she said.
“Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn’t it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate”
If you still can’t get past the word “refudiate” let me show you what she replaced that tweet with:
“Peace-seeking Muslims pls understand. Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing”
Okay, let me break this down.
The first issue is Palin’s plea to “Peace-seeking Muslims” as if being a peaceful Muslim is a rarity. It’s actually ironic. Sarah Palin just got finished responding to the NAACP for stereotyping all Tea Party members as racist…and here she is implying that most Muslims are violent. I know someone is out there saying “But Kriss, you’re reading too much into that.” Am I really? It would be one thing if this was the first time Palin or members of the Right implied that Muslims are some kind of war-mongering people, but it’s not. This has been systematic and frequent. Let’s forget the Bush-led War on Islam and just pick it up from the nomination of Barack Obama. There was a concerted effort to label Barack Obama a Muslim to gin up fear of terrorists. Then there has been a call during his presidency to profile Muslim men between the ages of 18 – 28. And now this “uproar” over a mosque being built near ground zero (which by the way is more rec center than mosque…but we’ll just call that a terrorist training facility). This has been a clear attempt to associate Muslims & Islam with terror and Sarah Palin is just pouring gas on that idiotic fire.
Palin says it’s an “unnecessary provocation”. Why? There is no evidence or even suggestion that those behind building this mosque have terrorist ties. So that means they are the “peace-loving Muslims” that Palin first mentioned. So if they are about peace, then who are they provoking? Christian New Yorkers? And if they are about peace, then why is that a provocation? Why can’t “peace-loving Muslims” and “peace-loving Christians” come together and take a stand and say that here in the United States we are all equal and we have a freedom of religion that means just because a few idiots from a religion commit an egregious act, we as Americans won’t give in?
And that leads me to the last part of Palin’s Tweet where she says “Pls reject tin the interest of healing.” As I stated above, this is in fact the OPPOSITE of what needs to be done to heal. A mosque at ground zero actually shows that we Americans won’t let the terrorist win. It shows that we reject the claims of the terrorists that Americans are at war with Islam and hate all of them. Instead, Palin and those like her on the Right are in essence ensuring the terrorists have won by allowing a terrorist attack to terrorize us into giving into our fears. Neither Palin nor her supporters can give a legitimate reason as to why the mosque at ground zero is a bad idea. Just backhanded fear based inferences that it is a jab at “everyday Americans”. And this is why I point out Sarah Palin’s idiocy. This is why I can’t just ignore her. Because Sarah Palin represents a significant portion of our society that is completely idiotic. And these idiots vote and influence policy. They have little understanding of history and therefore lack the ability to learn from it. They don’t understand that when we hold a group of people responsible for the actions of a few like we did with the Japanese with internment camps during World War II or communists under McCarthyism we are uncovering ugly blemishes on the history of this country. And here we are again, punishing all Muslims for the actions of 19 idiots with box cutters by in essence labeling all Muslims or Islamic as suspicious. Palin wouldn’t bat an eye if a Catholic Church was erected near a daycare. Yet a mosque at ground zero is cause for a alarm. Shows just how far we’ve come as a nation since that fateful day almost 9 years ago. And the answer is: Not far at all.

I’m tired of the Media propping up Sarah Palin as if she’s a legitimate politician. The truth is, Sarah Palin is a media creation. She was a flailing Hail Mary pass that John McCain threw that came up short of the end zone by at least 20 yards. The media was focused on the Democrats in 2008 because they had just nominated the first African-American to run for President and there was still a media created narrative about tension between women voters and Barack Obama’s campaign. And so instead of going with his first and “moderate” choice of Joe Lieberman or even picking a more qualified female candidate, McCain picks a virtual nobody in Sarah Palin in a blatant (and even sexist if you think about it) attempt to attract female democratic voters. The result was a spectacle that the media now seems to conveniently forget.
This isn’t about Sarah Palin being a woman. It’s not even about her being a conservative. It’s about her being the exact opposite this country needs. She came on the scene and didn’t know anything about the financial crisis we were going through. She bought into a bullshit Fox & Friends talking point that she had foreign policy experience just cause Alaska is geographically close to frozen tundra northeast of Moscow. She played to the fears of crowds of morons by suggestion Obama “palled around with terrorists” and using his middle name in a not so subtle attempt to label him a Muslim. And that’s all during the campaign. We thought that was the worst of it…but it wasn’t.
The media now intrigued by the ratings spectacle decided to cover everything Sarah without questioning the validity and absurdity of it. Sarah Palin quits on her state as Governor BEFORE finishing her first term and instead of talking about how that made her a quitter (or the ethics violations she was facing) the media instead focused on how much money she could make and how she could influence political races. They covered her book tour even though McCain staffer after staffer came out to say that her book was full of lies. I guess the distractions would be okay if it didn’t actually start to make policy changes. During the Health Care debates they laughed off her claims of Death Panels instead of pointing out repeatedly that it was 100% false. The result was afterlife care provisions being taken out of the Health Care Reform Bill. Little ole me took 1 day to look into the claims she posted on Facebook and found them to be 100% inaccurate. But did the media do this? No. They just propped her up. She recently made claims about how wrong it was for President Obama to sign a new START agreement to reduce our nuclear stockpile, claiming the President was making us weak. Yet Ronald Reagan is the one who started us on this path. And yet again, nothing from the media.
The media has propped up Sarah Palin and completely ignored the idiocy she spews and in my opinion has become a huge detriment to our society. In a time when a there are people suing to see President Obama’s birth certificate because they think he’s a secret Muslim one-man terror cell, you’d think the media would be more responsible. They’re carrying around Palin’s politically brain dead body and waving her hand at the people as if her voice carries legitimate weight. Sure, she’s a draw. People come out to see her. But those people also think she’s spewing truth because the media refuses to do its job. That’s unacceptable.

Bristol Palin has signed with a speakers bureau for a tidy sum of between $15,000 and $30,000 per speech, RadarOnline reports.
Palin is indeed listed as “NOW AVAILABLE FOR SPECIAL APPEARANCES” at Single Source Speakers, although the company website does not disclose her speaking fee. A call to SSS founder Ron Miller wasn’t immediately returned, but here’s Palin’s capsule biography:
Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin’s oldest daughter, took the country by storm practically overnight when she was introduced to Americans during the 2008 presidential campaign. Her teen pregnancy and the birth of her son Tripp, resulted in millions of Americans discussing the issues surrounding teen pregnancy. Bristol has since gone on to become a Teen Ambassador for the Candie’s Foundation, and speaks about pregnancy prevention, abstinence, faith and life. She recently appeared on the ABC drama “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and is working on her first book. (Source)
What the fuck? Bristol Palin. Thirty Thousand a Speech. And my faith in American society is just about completely depleted. It’s bad enough Sarah Palin is out there making millions spreading lies and tricking lower income families into thinking she’s “one of them” but now her daughter, who has no real qualifications other than being fertile, is set to make $30k per speech. Let’s not forget that $30k for one speech is about as much as some of the “real Americans” her mother talks about every day make. It’s unbelievable to me. Someone living an elitist lifestyle, who is probably making more money than the President, can sit there day in and day out calling the President…an elitist.
Please tell me what Bristol Palin could possible have to say for $30k? Wait…*reads story again*…she’s working on her first book? My God…
My head hurts reading this. Last weekend, I spent a couple of hours watching Vh1 travesties such as Basketball Wives, What Chilli Wants and that stupid Brandy/Ray J show and I thought I couldn’t do any more damage to my brain if I poured 151 over it and lit it on fire. Well, I was wrong. Between this and seeing real journalist defend their coverage of an idiot like Palin and I’m ready to take a handful of people and try to form my own society on an island somewhere.
