Let’s take another look at this NY Post thingy…
Never did I think that a drawing about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (that’s the ACTUAL name of the stimulus package; NOT Stimulus Package 2009. I’m willing to bet money that 75% of those “protesting” outside the NY Post offices couldn’t name the actual name of the stimulus package if their lives depended on it).
For the record, I am not a big NY Post supporter, quite frankly I think anything owned by Rupert Murdoch and or managed by NewsCorp (ie: Faux News, oops I mean Fox News) is down right retarded and FAR from being “fair and balanced”. I’ve been listening to all these stories about banning the NY Post and telling people how racist they are (because of the infamous monkey being shot picture). So Driving home from work I was listening to Michael Baisden on the radio (tells you how old my ass is if I’m listening to the “grown folks music”). Basically he and George Wallace were talking about how racist and ignorant the picture was etc…
I actually got fired up listening to it. Then I went home and actually looked at the picture, surprisingly I laughed (because I realized that Baisden was getting people fired up so that they can call his show and cry out “RACISM” and that there was no blatant racist message that Baisden was trying to show; I mean come on dude has a show to run and gotta pay his bills). I even thought it was clever. Clever for two reasons:
#1. The stimulus package was not written by President Obama, it was written by House Democrats, sponsored by Representative David Obey, a white Democrat from Wisconsin. So the racial references do not apply… and no….it is NOT Obama’s stimulus package, President Obama just signs it into law, once again he didn’t write it…So the monkey that’s been shot down in the photo is not supposed to portray him.
#2. The stimulus package is poorly written and has some extremely vague regulations for certain things and has some extremely stringent regulations for other projects. To be totally honest a monkey probably could’ve done a better job taking into consideration all aspects of each project. My job is actually “benefitting” (if that’s what you can call it) from this package. There is about 8.7 billion dollars of money going into the National Institutes of Health (NIH; we sometimes contract with) BUT it has to be spent in 2 years. If you’re in the scientific field you already know that there are virtually NO research projects that are completed in 2 years; hell project approval alone takes like 9-12 months… So the American taxpayer could’ve saved 8.7 Billion dollars if this was further reviewed taking everything into consideration rather than just tossing money to it. I mean if the regulation was that the money would have to be spent in 5 years or better yet 10 years it would’ve been more beneficial and WOULD have created more jobs. Like forreal what you gonna do? hire someone to sit around waiting for project approval for 9-12 months and then fire them a year after the project starts cause the money cant be used anymore?? There are many other projects in the bill that have stipulations just like this one. Senator Lindsey Graham R-SC, said it best “THIS BILL STINKS….”
I then thought to myself where was all the uproar when:
-GWBush was depicted as a monkey; or the pictures of him being hung from a tree (for the record I am NOT a supporter of this man, NOR did I ever vote for him in either election), or

-When Colin Powell was depicted as a “two-faced ‘Oreo’”, or when he was drawn next to Donald Rumsfeld being called a “BOY” or

-When Condoleeza Rice was depicted as an idiot bending over for the “whiteman”,

-When Ken Blackwell was depicted as the Mr Peanut cartoon and was “chuckin” and “jiving” for the “man” (again for the Record I think this man is a douchebag and I am NOT a supporter of him)

-When Michael Steele was depicted in “blackface” with white gloves, or better yet where was the uproar when supporters for Kathleen Kennedy –Townsend THREW Oreo cookies at him during a Senatorial rally???

Political pictures have always been satirical. They’re NOT your Sunday newspaper Garfield cartoon, which take little to NO effort to get a few laughs out of. They require THOUGHT and ANALYSIS. That’s how they’ve always been…so why is it all of a sudden it’s WRONG because of what you might THINK the author is portraying?!?! Unless you really sit down and review the references in each political cartoon you either WILL NOT get it OR you will THINK it’s talking about something completely unrelated.
My point is that the racial sensitivity is soooooooo one sided now to the point where white people (or even anyone) cant say anything about black people without being labeled as a racist.
-For example, on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kim (the only white housewife) said “I dont want to go eat chicken with NeNe….” and was labeled a racist…..WHEN THE FUCK DID CHICKEN BECOME FOOD FOR BLACK PEOPLE AND BLACK PEOPLE ONLY?!?!??! COME ON PEOPLE, GET THE FUCK OFF YOUR SOAPBOX AND STOP TRYING TO RIP APART WHAT ANYONE SAYS AND/OR DOES TO SEE IF THEY MIGHT BE A RACIST… Get a job, get a life and move on with it…
Oh and for all those who will read this and say “he’ll never know what it’s like to be black in this country…” I’ve been to CHURCHES where people refused to shake my hand during the peace offering, I’ve been to a waffle house in Deltona Florida where I was stared at by an elderly couple one of which said “what is he??” and “they’re just everywhere now…”, I’ve had a job at a leasing office where an applicant for an apartment (who was black) said TO MY FACE “damn I’m tripping off the fact you don’t have an accent….”
NEWSFLASH, everyone experiences it in their lifetime, that doesn’t mean you get to sit on your pedestal and victimize yourself more than the next person…oh and just to let you know, MY grandfather who worked as an attorney travelling back and forth from the Philippines to Los Angeles ALSO drank from the COLORED water fountains, sat at the back of the bus, and entered the diners from the side doors…You don’t see me using that shit as a crutch in everyday life…
