White People Can Use the N-Word

Oh look, another white person who has gotten themselves in trouble by saying the word “Nigger.” *sigh*.  Look, I know everyone and their mother is going to write something addressing Dr. Laura Schlessenger’s comments on her radio show.  I’ll be honest.  I have no idea who this lady is.  And I really don’t care.  I was going to once again restate something that should be solid fact in 2010; That white people cannot use the N-word.  Period.  End of fucking story.  I was going to write about how this really wasn’t up for debate.  But then half way through it, I had an epiphany, scrapped everything and changed my mind.

White people…you can use the N-word.

Yup you heard me.  I am now in full support of white people using the N-word.  Let me explain.  See for the longest time we blacks have told whites that they can’t use the “N-word” and we came up with all these complicated rules for not only why we can say it but how we can say it.

“We drop the –er and replace it with an –a and it’s now a term of endearment”

“We’ve taken the word back and now own it”

You know you’ve heard such things.  Truth is, it’s all really bullshit.  The real reason black don’t want white people to say the N-word or any of its variations is that when most of us hear a white person say it, the ghosts of our ancestors take over our body and we get the incredibly strong urge to slap the living shit out whoever said it.  It could be our boss, a good friend or even a random white person on the street.  Doesn’t matter who it is, if they are white and they say it; the urge to slap is coming. It’s really that simple.

“Well how come when black people say it, you don’t get the same urge”

Well, some black folks do. Yes some black people have a problem with the word completely.  The NAACP even went through the trouble of “burying” it in a mock funeral (what a waste space these fuckers are).  I respect black people who have a problem with the word being use by black people.  I completely avoid saying it around my elders because they lived the civil rights movement and that word has a history behind it that they lived.  And you know what?  Sometimes I do get an urge to slap a fellow African American who is using that word.  Little teenagers screaming “Nigga this”, “Nigga that” on a crowded train or in a mall make me want to trip them up, take off my belt, whip their asses and then wash their mouths out with soap.  I try to avoid using the word in public or in “mixed company” because I don’t want any of my white friends thinking that they now have a “black cool pass” to use the word when they want to.

Now that said, the real reason I don’t get the urge to slap a black person every time I hear them say the “N-word” is that the image of them holding a whip and screaming at me to pick cotton doesn’t pop into my head when they say it.  I don’t get the image of them telling me and “my kind” to go to the back of the bus.  If you’re white and you’re really wondering why so many blacks are against you saying the word, blame your ancestors.  They fucked it up for you.

And again, I’m now saying that you CAN say the word.  Just realize that saying it could come with consequences.  I have a group of female friends that call each other “Bitches.”  I’m smart enough to know though that if I walked up to one of them and said “Hey bitch”, I might get a knee to my nuts.  Same thing with white people who are hoping for the ability to use the N-word.  You can use it.  Use it as much as you want.  Go to downtown Baltimore wearing a “Nigga Please” shirt.  But after you get beaten to a pulp, I don’t want to hear you crying about a damn thing.  If you have a radio or TV show and you use the N-word, don’t whine when you lose sponsors or people call in complaining about what you did.  Own up to it and take the lumps.  You want to use the word, you now can.  Just know it also comes with consequences.  And no that’s not hypocritical, it’s just the way it is.  Use a derogatory word and people are going to have a negative reaction.  And yes, it’s still a derogatory word.  Yes some people use it as a term of endearment (like the word ‘bitch’) but most of the times it’s not being used in a positive light.  For every time I’ve said ‘My Nigga’, there have been ten times I’ve said ‘I can’t believe this nigga just did/said this dumb shit’.  The N-word is the spicy mustard you add to the top of a disrespectful statement to give it that extra kick.  There have been plenty of arguments that have escalated out of control simply from adding the word “nigga” to the end.  And this is the word you white people want access to use?  Hey, cool.  Fine.  Do you homey.  Use the word.  But again, when you get your ass kicked or have to deal with a bunch of angry letters/emails/phone calls or get fired from your job, just know…you brought it on yourself.

There are plenty of words in the English language and you know you don’t HAVE to use that word.  And all white people know that if they use it, they’re in for a shit storm.  So either don’t use it or use it and brace yourself for impact.  Either way I’m tired of having this conversation every other month.  I’m tired of white people acting like they don’t know the history behind the word. You know the history behind it.  You know why black people are upset when white people use it (even if you want to pretend to be clueless, you know).  Therefore by using it, you are now accepting the consequence.  So when you say it I’m just assuming you want a punch in the face from the nearest black person.  Cool?

I haven’t personally used the word since I was 16. My stepdad said he didn’t like it, so I stopped saying it. White people can say it all they want, but they can face the repercussions of a roundhouse kick to the throat.

  6. Ray White says:

So when I hear a black say Cracker it’s ok to feel the urge to crack their skull for them? Somehow I think that line of reasoning is going to fall abit short as well. Let’s face it there is no racism. What is a race anyway? You have the human race, that’s it. Ethnicities aren’t race. You should base your prejudices on something more tangible, like willful ignorance (stupidity for the layperson) and perhaps we would be making a move in the right direction. Ni**er is merely a word, and the ignorance shown by being angered over words shows a lack of self control. If you aren’t able to get past a word, I hate to think what else can derail you….

actually its negro, and possibly nigger. sad a white person who stumbled upon this post has to tell you….

    • Thoughts says:

There still is racism today whether you believe in it or not. Just because you don’t see it as much or because we now have a black president doesn’t mean it’s gone. The KKK is still prevalent and publicly sends death threats to our president. There is still racial profiling by police (some of which I’ve experienced). Like you, I wish there wasn’t any racism but it’s a reality. The only way to abolish racism is understanding, to learn about the culture and history of African Americans. There is no other race in America that went through what African Americans went through (Native Americans come close).

      • john street says:

yes there is still racism and its mostly black on white . but its not about hurt feelings but about financial gain . as long as blacks claim they are victims then guess what, they are going to expect guilt from their white counter parts . i am white and i havn’t done any harm to any blacks . as a matter of fact due to me being taxed to death to keep deadbeats up on welfare i think i have provided a service to ungrateful blacks . history is being rewritten to make it look like blacks are the only ones to suffer during the making of america , well google that .

        • Kriss says:

In your haste to claim blacks are “playing the victim” and are the true racist, you skipped over the fact that most people on welfare are………white.

And no one is saying that blacks are the only ones to suffer during the making of America. But blacks were the ones brought over on slave ships, whipped and beaten, treated as property and not given basic human rights until relatively recently. Google that…

          • Anonymous says:

Lets keep the facts straight. Blacks were sold by their own people. Lets not blame the white people for that. Most slaves lived a better life as slaves than they did among their own country that sold them.

          • sven says:

i think that nobody knows that white people were slaves in africa a long long time ago. they were also sold by africans.

    • Telena says:

@Ray White PLEASE READ THIS!!! White people’s ancestors weren’t enslaved and oppressed and the word used against them by their oppressors. Black people and White people can interact but we can’t fully merge cultures. Either they come up with a new word, or White people are just going to have to accept the fact that they can’t say it and that’s final. There’s nothing special about it to you guys and that is our word only. Another thing: White people around their Black friends can be as ghetto and Black as they want to, but when they step out the door into the world, you best believe that society will see them as a White person and give them a regular, oppressed-free life, where they see themselves in every T.V. show and billboard and wherever they go, like even Japan or Russia, they won’t a “tail inspection” or stares or alienation, rejection, or violence and racial slurs thrown at them. They can do whatever they want, but Black people have certain molds that society makes for them and they just have to fit in them. Hopefully, those molds will break one day.

  7. AS says:

First off, if you hear a person talking about “crackers,” you don’t know if they mean ritz, or white people. There isn’t/wasn’t/has never been the same definition, connotation or any other “tion” to the word cracker. It’s not the same. They are both words, true, but there are centuries of systematic persecution, degradation, slavery, abuse, and segregation that just doesn’t exist for the word “cracker.” It’s very easy to say, “it’s just a word,” when that word wasn’t forcibly applied both by law and common custom to you, your parents, your grandparents, your great-grandparents and anyone that looked anything like “you.” That argument is empty.

And no one is saying you will definitely get an ass whoopin if you call a black man nigger. And we’re not saying it’s right. We’re really just, “I would understand.”

    • wetback says:

Nigga, please! There is fucking context. If a bro says do want bread or crackers? Is diferren to That fucking cracker is my boss. Words are words, black just get out your race card to justify their lack of control. Worfs are words, and you can call me wetback and I wont beat your ass because my ancsters were hunted by Rednecks

  8. Clotee Allochuku says:

I grew up in Florida during the 1950′s and had to accept being called a “nigger” on many occassions. There is no way in hell that I could ever accept anyone calling me a nigger again. Black, White, Blue, or Yellow this will definitely cause me to defend myself immediately! Racist Whites want desperately to use the word because they see it as a power struggle issue. The idea that a Black person is allowed to use any word that they can’t use is considered a misuse of power and authority. They will always continue fight for the the right to use this word. So, I agree that they should use it but be prepared for the fight that follows.

    • john street says:

I really don’t think I need your permission to use the word . So get over it already .

      • Telena says:

@John You are a racist person. You don’t have the right to use the word and that angers you.Why don’t you get over the fact that you can’t say the word. You are White, society and the world still caters to you.

    • sven says:

it´s not about power or anything(unless you´re stupid) most white want to use it because of rapmusic. if they grew up with it and so on.

  9. COwbert says:

  10. Jared says:

Nigger is a noun in the English language, most notable for its usage in a pejorative context to refer to black people, and also as an informal slang term, among other contexts. It is a common ethnic slur. The word originated as a term used in a neutral context to refer to black people, as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger, meaning the color “black”.[1][2][3][4]

  11. Jared says:

Cracker, sometimes white cracker, is a pejorative term for poor whites.[1] It is especially used for the white natives of the U.S. states of Georgia and Florida (Georgia crackers and Florida crackers), but it is also used throughout the Southern United States and more widely in North America.

  12. Jared says:

Honky (also spelled honkey or honkie) is a racial slur for white people, predominantly heard in the United States. The first recorded use of honky dates to 1946[1], but the exact origins of the word are unknown.

  13. Jared says:

Redneck is historically a derogatory slang term to refer to poor white Southern farmers in the United States.[1] It is similar in meaning to “cracker” (especially in Georgia and Florida), “hillbilly” (especially in Appalachia) and “white trash” (especially among blacks[2][3]

  14. Jared says:

Hillbilly is a term referring to people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas of the United States, primarily Appalachia. Due to its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term is frequently considered derogatory, and so is usually offensive to those Americans of Appalachian heritage. However, the term is also used in celebration of their culture by mountain people themselves.

  15. Jared says:

White trash or poor white trash is an American English pejorative term referring to poor white people in the United States, suggesting lower social class and degraded living standards. The term suggests outcasts from respectable society living on the fringes of the social order who are seen as dangerous because they may be criminal, unpredictable, and without respect for authority whether it be political, legal, or moral.[1] It is usually used, especially by blacks,[2] as a slur, but may also be used self-referentially by whites of higher socio-economic status to jokingly describe their origins.[3] In common usage it is similar in meaning to cracker (especially in Georgia and Florida), hillbilly (especially in Appalachia) and redneck.[4] “Redneck” applied originally to politically active poor white Southern farmers and by extension is today used to denigrate Southern conservatives.[5]

  16. 1whoknu says:

Ummm, Jared? I see what you’re trying to do there but it won’t work.

“Use a derogatory word and people are going to have a negative reaction.”

So feel free to use those words you listed anytime, just don’t cry when you get a negative reaction.

  17. NC Chris says:

The thing is I’ve never been offended by any of those words (cracker, hillbilly, redneck) because I’m not one; not sure what point you’re trying to prove.

  18. j0ey says:

    • john street says:

    • Telena says:

Black people can say White boy and cracker because White people were not oppressed. To all the White people who got on this obviously Black website and decided to say that Black people are “oppressing” them for not using this word, get over yourself and accept the fact that you can’t say it.

  19. David says:

Frankly I am sick of the QQing, complaining and crying about the use of the word nigger. Fucking grow up! The word has morphed beyond “hatred” or even in reference to black people. Can it be used towards blacks…sure, did it originate with black people..sure, but I see it used more to describe a person who is a piece of shit vs someone whom is black anymore.

The FACT is, everyone of you on this post has used a racial slur, probably everyday..but it does not mean you are racist.

I dont hate black people, asian people, white people, hispanics whatever, I judge each person on their own merit…BUT a distaste for a certain race comes not from hate, but it is called self preservation and it does not begin or end with race.

Let me paint a picture. I had a friend Jesse, who was hispanic in high school. I lent him a spare tire when his went flat until the next pay period. When I asked if he had his tire fixed/replaced he brushed me off, always had some excuse. About 6 months go by and I get a flat, I need my tire, so I go to his house and demand my tire and wheel back. The tire was completely bald, and worn to threads on one side (due to his car having a bad alignment) and he painted the wheel PURPLE…WTF, who does that? So, here is my first hispanic friend and he screws me.

Without boring you I will skip the rest of my stories, but 6 times now I have had a hispanic “Friend” do me wrong…I have not had black friends do this, I have not had asian friends do this, nor white friends…

I am now cautious when I make friends with a hispanic person. The amount of trust I give to a person as we grow as friends is greatly reduced with hispanic men. Does this mean I am racist? Of course not. I have hispanic friends, but the good ones for me have been far and few between.

The point is this, it is not racist but has more to do with bad experiences and being cautious. It is a self defense mechanism that is 100% part of human nature.

we all know the saying “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. That is what “racism” is about for 99% of the people on the planet…it has little to do with not liking you for a color or whatever.

Personally, I am going to start saying nigger and retard and white trash and kike and chink and good and whatever… if it pisses you off…good, get over it. It is a damn word in the english language and like a multitude of other words the meanings change. Cool, gay, hot, on fire, sweet, the cats meow..etc etc words and phrases take on new meanings every generation that have little to do with the words origins. If the word offends you, there is only ONE person on this planet who has the power to change it and not let it affect them, and that is you.

white are pussies anyways huh? you dont understand how fucked up some of us can be. in my mind if you piss me off (which a lot of things piss me off) you deserve every bit of what im about to do to you. thats all i have to say about that.

im a ghetto white boy and im not racist, my girlfriend is black and i have friends that vary in race. at my school black people are treated a lot better than anybody else though. we have student representatives.. or something like that.. and theyre supposed to be for everybody but really theyre for black people. both of the representatives are black too. like they can talk to them and just get a job without a interview or anything, my girlfriend did this. it just seems like theyre trying too hard to not be “racist” cause there are racist people in my school. and not only racist against black people, i mean my girlfriend and black friends say all the time that the most racist people are black people… i just dont get how people can be so intolerant and hate because of a color. so i dont wanna hear that black people in general are treated unfairly… honestly a lot of the black people in my school are quite wealthy.

but as a white person being around black people a lot and listening to rap and all that, its kinda hard not to use the word… in the right context of course. i mean like when your there clowning with some friends and someone does something stupid its hard not to be like riley on the boondocks and say “nigga you gay.” its them gay ass preppy white folk that ruin the word, thinkin they can say it just cause they listen to hip hop. i dont say it cause im respectful but im sure most, if not all of people im around wouldnt do anything if i did.. mostly cause they aint tryna mess with me. so i agree, say nigga or nigger if you want white people but just expect the backhand every time. i mean iii almost fucked up a friend for saying some racist shit..

          • Telena says:

How is it hard to not say a word? Just don’t say it. If you are a White person around Black people all the time, I understand how you would want to be immersed in their culture. Black people are not treated better. You can be as ghetto as you want to be, but you still are going to get preferencial treatment. That school you go to doesn’t represent the world and society. Black people aren’t the most racist, your girlfriend doesn;t know what she’s talking about.

    • Telena says:

You can say all those words, but expect your ass to be beat.

  20. Alan says:

I totally agree with you. The word has less to do with color and more to do with ignorance. But ignorance, in Baltimore anyway, has been monopolized by black people, who run you off the road, violate laws constantly, even with kids in the car, use the worst possible language in any setting, listen to very loud music while talking on cell phones and arguing with the girl in the passenger seat, slow down when they can bother a white person, speed up and tailgate when they can bother a white person, walk three abreast on the sidewalk when they approach a white person, shoot each other, shoot anything else that moves, shoot themselves, break in line at the checkouts, shut down the checkout line when a white person has a turn, and suck all the milk from the Federal tit. I hope they starve. The tit is getting shriveled.

    • Telena says:

So basically, you named all the Black stereotypes. Black people are on welfare because they are poor and society has kept them poor. Stop being racist and understand what happens in the world happens for a reason.

  21. T.g.o.d says:

I don’t know why there’s still any debate at all. For hundreds of years the word was used as a form of oppression. Oh shit here comes The Cracka and his 2 sidekicks ,The Red Neck and HillBilly lol.. Anyway I digress and bring this to close by saying this i honestly believe white ppl honestly don’t know why and the reason is you can’t racially offend a white person and a white person told me that… Majority of white races have never been thru what the darker races have. Well in terms of racism

Yes, use racist words all you want. But don’t expect people will not take offense. The funny thing is, he tried to say we were the racists ones after he provoked us.

  23. Jessica says:

i say niggah, i am white, i date a black man and have black friends, my black friends call me niggah, i call my black and white friends niggah. altho i would never say it with an “er” because that in my opinion is the offensive way of saying and most ppl i kno white and black would agree.
have i gotten heat for saying it, yes. but i dnt care i will continue to use it in my vocab, most likely until i grow out of it, which most young ppl will (white and black) because that is what it is. we are a bunch of college kids and we have mixd all our cultures together. will i be 30 married and be saying “omg niggah u trippin” or “ey niggah whas good” or “girl did u see that niggah last night , damn he was fine” no most likely not. will you find an educated black man at a law firm say ” that niggah guilty” or ” damn niggah u missd the meeting.” i dont think so.
if you are offend by it, let the person kno that it you are not cool with it, they should have the respect not to say it around you. the ppl that make a huge deal out of what the think are racist slurs are the ppl that are not letting racism “die” for lack of better words. blaming white ppl for what their ancestors did is completely ridiculous, especially when not all of our ancestors had slaves or were racist. stop bein ovr sensitive ESPECIALLY when you kno that the certain person isnt even racist!
it has nothing to do with white power or wanting to “own” the word. u can not own a word btw.
like the one person said “WORDS EVOLVE” and niggah has evolved for the most part.

…and for the record nobody says cracker and if you do, no one should take you seriously, instead they should laugh in your face.

At the same time, I’ve run into people in school who use it. Even after me and other people have basically given them the look that says “Dude…stop it”, they still continue. You can tell a them not to use it, but more often then not they’ll say “I don’t see what the big deal is.” I don’t like having this huge 20 minute argument in the middle of the cafeteria or classroom everytime this occurs. So basically, black people have to learn to either ignore it or deal with it. Unfortunately, I can’t beat the ass of everyone who says it, but if it happens I can say that that person was asking for it.

Regardless of race, saying the n-word generally tells people that you are ignorant. I don’t like when black people say it around anyone other than their close friends or family b/c it gives everyone else a reason to say the word. It’s almost the same reason you shouldn’t curse around people you don’t know or the elderly. Or a kid. In fact, it’s comparable to a kid cursing like a sailor b/c they hear it over and over. People who hear the kid will think “that boy is going to be a bum/trash when he grows up”.

It’s just not a good look.

you aren’t right. The person has the right to say the n-word around whoever they want to, but they can’t say it back. End of story. It is an offensive word, and you need to understand that.

As opposed to the black kids who already say nigga this, nigga that whom everyone already knows usually are trash/bums and have no future other than selling drugs. I have the right to use whatever words I damn well please to use and I always will.

  34. Telena says:

Black people can say it because they were insulted with it by racist White folks who own the world and outnumbered them. You can say whatever you damn well please, but expect your ass to get beat. We were warning you already.
