Worst Political Ad Ever

Remember earlier this week when I talked about Sarah Palin’s ridiculous call for “peace-loving Muslims” to “refudiate” the mosque at ground zero?  Remember how I said this was going to just feed the fear in idiotic Americans and wasn’t really what we need as a country?  Well here’s a perfect example of why I said that:

I hope that no TV station ever runs this ad.  I’d like to believe that even Fox News isn’t this low.  But you know the real sad thing?  There’s enough “every day Americans” out there that believe this ad.  And truth be told, the way Sarah Palin is talking…she’s one of them.

Now watch as ZERO conservatives come out to condemn this ad.

I’m not sure these people even understand what kind of serious precedent it would set to refuse a particular religion from building a religious building for little more reason than not liking them (thought I’m also not sure if it’s been legally done before for some Pagans or some other weird religion like that). The people who seem to want to uphold the Constitution all the time are asking for government intervention on something that if it were a Christian church being refused building permits, they would be up in arms carrying rifles to political rallies (wait, they’ve already done that).

Personally, it doesn’t sit well that they want to build a mosque RIGHT there at Ground Zero. It does feel like a slap in the face. BUT, if they’ve got all of the building permits and it’s been signed off by the city, they have as much right to build there as anyone else. And I don’t really like playing fear politics so I just like to disagree with the dumbasses that are running the GOP and the Tea Party these days (they’re basically the same damn thing).

  2. Benee says:

What alwayws gets me is how the portray Muslims as being mutually exclusive from Americans. “We Americans”… as if no Americans, or “real” Americans, are Muslims. And then the whole all Muslims are Terrorists thing. It really disgusts me.

We can’t pretend that this sentiment hasn’t existed for as long as this country has existed though. It is only coming to the surface in a major way post 9/11 and upon the election of a Black man as president. This idea of a “real American” is steaming ahead and gaining support from people who would never admit to being bothered by having a Black man run the country.

I’m afraid for where we are headed as a country. I used to say we were not ready for a Black president. People condemned me for that. But my point is that there is an entire generation that needs to die off before we can fully embrace and accept a Black person running this country without his/her race being the leading cause for negative reaction and disrespect. We’re not there yet. The younger people, they show promise. But the Baby Boomers are still alive and kicking and their influence is clearly dominant. We need another 20 years or so…

  3. Anthony says:

I am no fan of the Republican party, they’ve hijacked this country and are doing all they can to curtail our freedoms. But I have to say, this is a Quality ad. It scares the shit out of me how much “respect” we think we have to show Islam. The average American does not understand Islam. I served for 13 months in Afghanistan, and I also served during the initial invasion of Iraq, these people are dedicated. Islam is not a religion of peace. Don’t get me wrong… Anyone who knows me knows that I oppose all forms of religion, however it rears it’s evil head, but Islam is a particularly dangerous branch that will prey upon our tolerance to destroy us from within. They hate women, they hate free speech, and we cannot allow them to spread their teachings here. If you want to know the TRUTH about Islam, check this out…

    http://www.quixoticjourney.com/2010/07/islam-religion-of-peace/

I would love to open an honest dialogue on this subject, because it is important.

  4. Salaam says:

I actually have to agree with Anthony on this one. I looked at the link he posted, watched the short video, and it’s correct. He is right. Mainstream Islam is a threat to the United States. They are anti-woman, anti-free-speech, and whether you realize it or not, they do not like Black people!

I grew up in the Bronx, and my mom raised me Muslim, I actually made the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca, and I can tell you, as a black man, I was not made to feel welcome. Islam is not a religion for the black man. Neither is Christianity really…

I guess they robbed us of that too.

  5. Kriss says:

Wow, you two are idiots. To say you want to have a “honest dialog” but then say that this disgusting ad is “quality” is such bullshit. “Mainstream” Islam is no more of a threat to us than “Mainstream Christianity”. Both sides have their nutcases and they are NOT representative of the whole. I don’t like organized religion either but to watch this “pro-christian” bullshit as they try to take a stab at another religion is disgusting. Truth is there’s been a mosque virtually at Ground-zero for decades and so this mosque proposal is NOT that serious.

  6. Niggers and Muslims teaming up against America!

  7. Joseph says:

And racist imbeciles and lunatics like you teaming up to destroy it.

  8. VermontMan says:

I once served a Muslim man in a diner in which I worked. I knew he was Muslim, by his beard, and the clothes he wore. This was post 9/11, and I have never had any malice toward the people who choose to follow that faith. I do regard all religion as silly, but I do not see Islam as any more or less evil than any other religion, so I felt no malice at all toward that bearded man. Quite the opposite. He intrigued me. He had only a cup of tea and two pieces of toast. I watched him eat them. He ate them slowly, enjoying each bite. I could feel the stared of the white people around him. He was suspect to them. Especially to the blonde woman sitting in the booth behind him. He did not know it, but she stared at him. She stared hard. She stared with hate. A hate so deep it burned my heart. And she did not know it, but I ejaculated in her scrambled eggs.

  9. W says:

In light of that, I’m glad I mind my business when I go out to eat…

  10. Anthony says:

One certainly doesn’t open an open dialog with personal attacks Kriss, that makes you barely better than guys like “the real deal”.

My point is this… People assume that it’s just an outspoken few, who are misinterpreting the Koran that mean us harm, and that’s simply not true. Watch the video I linked to above. This isn’t a case of dealing with a few crazy people, like crazy Christians such as the Phelps’, this is a case where the “moderate” Muslims are the minority, and they are the ones who are interpreting the Koran wrong!

Also, if “moderate” Muslims are so “moderate” how come we never hear their outcries against Islam when you hear about the stoning of women, or the murder of cartoonists?

  11. Anthony says:

By the way “the real deal”, that sort of ignorance and hate doesn’t help anyone or anything.

    VermontMan… I don’t know man… I just don’t know…

  12. Kriss says:

Again “anthony” You’re an idiot. I don’t have “open and honest” discussions with morons. To assume moderate Muslims are the “minority” is part of the problem with why this bullshit is going on.

  13. Anthony says:

Kriss, You are the one too closed minded to open a dialog and defend your point intellectually without the use of personal attack, but I am the ‘idiot’?

I am not the one who has resorted to name calling. I have merely presented a point-of-view with which you happen to disagree. I am very open to hear your side. If you can present a valid counterpoint without stooping to 4th grad tactics of personal slander, I would happily listen and consider your point.

Until then, all I have to base my opinions off of is my own life experience, which includes a substantial amount of time living among TRUE Muslims, not American Muslims, in Afghanistan and Iraq. I was sent to fight in a country that never harmed me, in a war I don’t believe in, against an enemy I do not hate by a President I despise (Bush), and during all of that I learned a lot of things about Islam that disturbed me deeply.

I have read the Koran, and suggest all peace loving Americans do the same. This is not a religion of peace. Unless, you’d like to discuss this like a man I will thank you for refraining from the name-calling.

  14. Kriss says:

Again there is no “open debate” here because you’ve already stepped down the path of stupidity. You claim to be someone that has fought for this country and that’s why you were in Afghanistan & Iraq. Did it ever occur to you that the reason you got such a bad reception from Muslims wasn’t because of their religion but because you represented a fighting force occupying their country? THAT is why I call you stupid. You’re trying to use your experiences with a few muslims to categorize the majority of them of being in a religion that isn’t peaceful yet you ignore the fact that you’re fighting under the banner of a “christian nation” and maybe THAT’S what’s at the bottom of the animosity.

Sorry but no, you are an idiot. To suggest this ad is anything more than bigotry makes you an idiot and if you don’t like being called that..then guess what? Don’t be an idiot.

  15. Anthony says:

When I served in Afghanistan, I was there doing humanitarian assitance work, and yes, it was with the military, but we were non-combatants. We built schools, clinics, police stations and hospitals. We provided medical care and food. And only after we had given what we had to give, they would attack us. You have so much to learn, but you have a closed mind.

Did you bother to watch the video I linked to above? Have you ever read the Koran? I have. I am very well versed in Islam and Eastern & South Asian culture, it’s essential to my job. I have formal training and education in these subjects, but you seem to lack the intellectual capacity to be able to carry on a personal dialog with an individual without stooping to personal attacks. Is name calling the best tool in your intellectual arsenal?

I’ve not insulted you once, because I do not presume to know you. Yet with no knowledge of me, you not only presume to know me, but you pass judgement on me?

A mind is like a parachute, it only works when it is open.

  16. You are all just a bunch of dumb ass Niggers arguing with yourselves. That guy was never in Afghanistan… Niggers are afraid to fight in war. Niggers are cowardly.

  17. Anthony says:

“the real deal” People like you have absolutely no place anywhere in a civil society. You’re level of ignorance and bigotry is counter productive and entirely unwelcome. If you don’t like the views expressed here, please, go elsewhere, but there is no need to hang out and be hateful.

  18. Kriss says:

You can’t come in with a bigoted stance and then claim that I’m the one who lacks the intellect. You’re blaming the reaction of a desperate people who have known nothing but war and destruction on their religion, which I’m sorry is idiotic. If your premise was true then those who practice Islam across the globe would be violent and hateful and that again is just not true.

That video you link to makes statements about Islam that could be made about any other religion out there. Funny how it glosses over, excuses or just ignores how current Christians manipulate the Bible for their own uses but feels the need to warn us all of the evils of Islam. How many Christians use the Bible to justify their bigoted views? Hell we still won’t let gays get married in this country solely because “The Bible says it’s a sin”. Christians went from continent to continent converting the “savages” or slaughtering them using the Bible as justification, yet Islam is the “evil religion” that is at War with everyone else. It’s laughable and absurd that you would come here trying to peddle this hateful bullshit with some backhanded attempt at wanting a “Honest discussion.”

The same hate you say is spread by Islam is the same hate spread by Christianity. Neither is more noble than the other. It’s not the religion that should be blamed but rather the people using religion to justify their hatred.

  19. Anthony says:

Kriss, since you clearly seem to lack the ability to refrain from argumentum ad hominem, I shall overlook your personal attacks and focus on the issue at hand, because although you seem to have difficulty defending your point-of-view sans personal attack, I do believe you are rational enough and intelligent enough to understand a valid argument.

In both Torah and Koran* God told Abraham to sacrifice his son. Of course, the Muslims say it was Ishmael, not Isaac, but that’s beside the theological point. The point is, he heard a voice from God… telling him to kill his son.

Did he check it out with the local priesthood? No.

He just assumed it was the god to whom he was accountable, though God as we use the term today wasn’t even imagined in the Bronze Age. And then he did it — almost. But just as he raised the dagger, God stopped him, congratulated him for passing the test of faith, and promised him reward for obedience.

Message: Obey God, and you will be rewarded.
In fact: Obey what you believe to be the voice of God, and you will be rewarded.
In fact: Obey what you believe to be the voice of God, no matter how insane or immoral those directions may appear, and you will be rewarded.
But now that we have the Word of God written down, such voices in the sky (or head) are generally regarded as unreliable. Now it’s: Obey what you believe your Holy Scriptures are telling you, no matter how insane or immoral those directions may appear, and you will be rewarded.

Abraham was rewarded just as God promised. And Abraham’s progeny took over Canaan and survived through the millennia just as God promised. And that proves Abraham obeyed God, and God pays off on his promises. Therefore, go thou and do as Abraham did. On this foundation was built Mosaic Law, then all of Judaism, then Christianity, then Islam. Regardless of which branch is chosen, and whether believers actually obeyed it or not, the maxim itself has remained the Prime Directive of monotheism for four thousand years. Even when one group of monotheists, in obedience to the Prime Directive, murders other monotheists, the maxim itself is never challenged. Should it be challenged?

What if a God does exist, and He acted the same four thousand years ago as He appears to act today? What if Abram (as he was originally called) were not a special person selected by an arbitrary Tyrant for supernatural communication? What if he were simply a sincere truth-seeker whose efforts to find a God worthy of the capital G met with about the same success as those of any truth-seeker today? What if he simply chose to bet his life on a righteous God, as opposed to the evil gods of his society? Now what’s the moral of the story? Insist on a righteous God, no matter what your society tells you, and you will be rewarded. Does not that message make better sense to everyone from the most sincere and ardent believer to the blatant hypocrite?

    * Technically the Koran says Abraham was instructed in a dream. His son believed it was a command from Allah. Angels promised Abraham reward for fulfilling the dream.

  20. Kriss says:

Again that has nothing to do with your claim that most Muslims support a religion that is inherently violent compared to other religions. Nothing. You’re claiming i’m making ad hominem attacks but the truth is it’s not an ad hominem attack if i’m calling your claim bigoted on face value, which it is. For the last time you cannot stereotype an entire group of people and then claim to want an “honest debate.” THAT is irrational. As I said before that video isn’t proof of anything. Neither is your long diatribe after that.

  21. DJ says:

What’s so hysterical and ironic as it were is at the :41 second mark, the support beam/column directly above the fireman’s head was a result of a shape charge via PETN detonation cord. We use it on our demo jobs. It was perfectly set to allow the upper region of the beam to shift slide at the 60 degree angle. Pure demolition standard geometry. Take a careful look, it’s right before your eyes America. One more clear example that the Twin Towers were an inside job.
