We gotta do better people.  This isn’t directed at one race or gender, but at people as a whole.  This woman, Latreasa Goodman didn’t hesitate to call 911 because the manager told her they were out of chicken nuggets and while she couldn’t refund her money, she could pick something else off the menu.  911 is supposed to be used for emergencies.  While it might seem to some uneducated racist hick from down south that a black person being in a location that is out of chicken is an emergency, I assure you…it is not. This idiot, Goodman, called 3 times. THREE. All because she couldn’t get her Chicken McNuggets or all her money refunded.

I think this exposes a bigger problem with our society though – entitlement.  People seem to always feel that they are entitled to something, regardless of the rules or how outlandish it is.  Now I’m not sure why the McDonalds couldn’t refund her the money she paid but was it really that serious to call 911 over a 10 piece chicken McNugget?  Aren’t they still on the $1 menu?  So let’s assume that Goodman spent $5 for the whole meal.  They were going to let her get anything else off the menu but she didn’t want that. Again, understandable.  And I know some people are just super thrifty with their money, so maybe she wasn’t going to just accept the $5 lost.  Fine.  But this selfish sense of entitlement, that her need to be refunded for $5 paid at a McDonalds over, was greater than all the other people calling 911 for real emergencies is just too much for me to bare. I’m glad she’s being charged with misusing 911 but I think there needs to be a harsher penalty for people this stupid.  Listening to the call, at no point as she’s talking to the 911 operator does it even dawn on her how ignorant she’s sounding.  I thought at least that much would happen.  Sometimes you get yourself worked up and you react and it isn’t until you’re telling someone else that you realize that you’re blowing it out of proportion.  But not Ms. Goodman, she calls three times and still doesn’t realize who stupid and insane she’s sounding.  You want your money back?  Fine, write a letter to the head office, I’m sure they’d send you back a check for $5.39 (or whatever the price was) and some free chicken nugget coupons.

This isn’t new though.  This is just like Joe McCain (John McCain’s brother) who called 911 because he was stuck in traffic.  Come on people…we got to do better.
