I Think I’m Starting to Not Like Black People

Ghetto. Classless. Obnoxious. Hypocritical. Those 4 words describe the black people I encountered down in Vegas. Honestly, I was almost ashamed to be black. Now I know that sounds like some self-hate bullshit, but I really mean it. Honestly, to see the ‘tomfoolery’ that I saw this weekend during Black History month makes me feel that it would have been a lot less of a step backwards if they just made some toilet paper with Dr. King’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech on it and we all used it to wipe our asses. See, you can explain away typical ‘ghetto’ bullshit when you are in the hood. You can say that the people didn’t know any better and that they are living poor so they should get an excuse. Of course I still think that’s a load of crap but…whatever. But down in Vegas, all those excuses go out the window. If you can afford to fly out to Vegas and get a hotel room, I expect you to have at least an ounce of class about you. Now I know I might be expecting too much, but still, I think it’s about time we start holding ourselves to a higher standard. At what age are you too old to be walking around with a chain that comes down to your belt buckle? Why do you get in line at the food court with your pants sagging down to behind your knees? Thankfully the idiot who did that (see picture above) was wearing shorts or we would have all been treated to that ignorant Negro’s shit stained boxers. When do you finally realize that yelling ‘Ay gurl…come hurr’ from your rented car doesn’t work? Then there’s the blatant disrespect of the rules. Not just the rules of the hotel, but basic rules of living in a civilized society. Take crossing the street for instance. Everyone jaywalks. I know this. I’ve done it myself. But if you are going to walk against the signal, not check to make sure traffic is not coming, and then walk slow as molasses, you deserve to get hit. Don’t mean mug on the drivers when they honk their horn at you. YOU, are the wrong one. I watched ignorant ass black folk not only mean mug, but then walk slower and then complain like they had the right of way.

Also, contrary to popular belief, not all Black people like marijuana. Another interesting tidbit is that people that choose to ask specifically for a ‘non-smoking’ room actually do that because they don’t like the smell of smoke. That includes weed smoke. The ghetto bammas next door to my room decided they would go into their bathroom and smoke some weed. I guess they didn’t want to weed smoke to be all in their room, but obviously didn’t mind that the smell permeated into the hallway and, more importantly, my room. I wasn’t really surprised though considering these were the same ignorant ass ghetto bammas that would come in between 4 – 6 AM, screaming, laughing, slamming doors, knocking on their door because they locked themselves out of the room and were trying to wake up the person knocked out in their room. Then they would turn around and yell at us to ‘Shut up’ because they were trying to sleep at 11:30 AM.

I can honestly say I was embarrassed. Typically when someone calls our people out on their shit (Cosby?) they are met with tons of other people saying ‘No, that’s just the few bad apples. That’s not representative of the rest of us.’ Well, I’m sorry to inform you that we (those with class, dignity and respect) are vastly outnumbered by those that would rather show their lack of respect, tact, and class for the whole world to see. When I got ready to leave on Monday morning, I was watching a news report that said that crime had definitely increased over the last 3 days (When most of the people arrived). You know it is sad when people say that they’ve never seen Vegas that bad (The damn city is nicknamed ‘Sin City’). I believe there were 4 shootings. FOUR in three days. One restaurant said they lost THOUSANDS of dollars on walkouts. Apparently some people thought jacking taxi cabs down one particular alley would be the cool thing to do. The streets were littered with trash. So called ‘men’ were disrespecting women left and right. Just because she didn’t want to talk to your yellow teeth having, grillz wearing, smelling like weed and looking like death ass doesn’t give you the right to call her a ‘bitch’. Like the rhetorical question I asked before ‘Has running up on a chick like she some sort of animal ever really worked???’

Any way, let me just wrap this up by saying that I’m extremely disappointed in the behavior of ‘my people’. After this weekend I have no more hope for us. Maybe things will change, but I sincerely doubt it. Now many will say I’m being too harsh but I’m reminded of that quote by Sgt. Waters from A Soldiers Story (‘Do you know the damage one ignorant Negro can do?’) If one ignorant Negro can bring a ton of embarrassment and shame to his people, what can a city full of them do? Think about this: There were foreigners who came in to town for this passed weekend. Be it for the All-Star game or just to come to Vegas. For many of them it might have been there first time seeing a Black person. So they see the ignorant bammas with the grillz and chains. They see the rude ass ‘men’ grabbing up females. They hear about the shootings (One resulted in a dead body being outside my hotel, The Monte Carlo). They then go back and tell everyone they know that what they saw is how Black people behave. Now we have everyone thinking we are uncouth animals. And then we wonder where the stereotypes we face in the world come from. We wonder why we are still discriminated on and why we are overlooked for jobs and promotions. So if you ever experience that and wonder where the mindset of the other person came from, think back to All-Star Weekend in Vegas 2007 and thank your ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’. And to think these fools acted this way during Black History month. Just a couple of weeks ago the ‘State of the Black Union’ was held where a bunch of delusional Blacks told themselves we were moving in the right direction. Well, let me tell you…we took about 15 HUGE steps back these past 3 days. King, Parks, Malcolm, and all our fallen heroes are rolling in their graves right now. A damn shame.

In the words of Cedric the Entertainer, "Now what is we gon' do?"

And as Chris Rock so eloquently stated:  "I love black people. I hate niggas."

Yep…definitely moving out of the U.S.

I definately feel you on this. When I'm on the east coast (PG County, NC A&T) I don't let 'niggers' bother me. Now that I'm in MN it pisses me off. There aren't a lot of black people up here so when I see an ignorant nigga….I automatically get upset. My friends will tell you..if they are acting dumb..they get the Big Momma look. The look that says, "if you don't stop I'm gonna give you a reason to stop." Up here, everyone expects me to be ghetto b/c of the few black locals that they have up here. A couple of months ago I was in a club, and a group of guys all had grills. I asked them where they were from. You know what these niggas said? FLORIDA. I asked them..why are you here? For school. I asked them what school….SOME COMMUNITY COLLEGE! GTFOH! So you're telling me that your ignorant ass moved at least 25 hours away to go to community college?! I'm guessing they wanted to have a reason to be wearing  grills in the mid-west (by saying they were from Florida.) Another situation..same club (I'm not going there anymore). So it's my birthday. My LS and some Alpha's take me to this club after a dinner get-together. I'm sittin there dancin by myself.. Doin a little 1-2 step and someone grabs my ass. I look back and there's a guy there, but someone just walked by at the same time. I stay calm (I have the big-butt curse and I'm used to this bullshit). Once again..that shit happens. I let it go again. Third time…I flip! My LS flips on him too. Some alpha's stopped her from whoopin this punks ass. Now that's ignorant on us….(it was a black club though)…but the part that gets me is that now he and his friends are trying to holla at me. WTF? Nigga you just grabbed my ass! No I'm not talking to you like you're a decent human being! I have soo many stories of 'tomfoolery' that it's ridiculous..but I have a paper to write. :-)

I have no words for this ….

I think we are set back beyond repair. I'm turning white next week.

  5. Marie says:

I think the sargeant in "A Soldiers Story" had it right.  We need to start slitting the throats of ignorant people.  Sure crime will temporarily surge, but in the long run, we will all benefit.

  6. D. Michelle says:

It's a damn shame, incredibly sad, and the reason I prefer not to attend "black" events.  Our race is thoroughly divided, and the divide is increasing everyday.

  7. WG says:

And it took you this long to get mad at the current state of our people? I attribute it to the lack of parenthood that runs rampant in the community.  If there were more mommas giving their child the Big Momma look, then it wouldnt be like this.  We need to make our own militia – a militia of Big Mommas.  Any volunteers?

  8. J.Bizzle says:

Yeah, I wrote a little number about Cosby’s comments on my livejournal awhile ago. And I definitely feel ya about the midwest. Here in Iowa, I’m like an alien or something because white people expect all black people to be ghetto. There is no black middle class here…that’s one of the things I miss about Birmingham.

  9. Michael says:

You all are missing this big time. Black folks are not the only people who act or dress like they have lost there minds. Most people act like they are in an out of body experience. I am truly saddened when I see members of the black race dress and act like thugs, but I know of a lot of people who are white, asian, hispanic that act ghetto as they come. What you have to realize is that the mentality of individuals are shaped by their upbringing and by them not checking themselves. If you ask those individuals if they attend church, what would they say? Ask yourselves if you attend church? Then ask yourselves would God be okay with the way that you or others act? We ALL fall short of the glory of God. We just don’t have to dress or act like we have fallen short. Ghettoness can be found in all walks of life. I seem to remember Ben Roethlesberger in several interviews talking with a ghetto slang himself and he makes millions. I find that lots of college students engage in burning up cars and doing drinking binges. People are people. Depeche Mode had a song out in the late 80′s or early 90′s. Next time you see them like that, pray that God pierces their heart with his word. Believe me God will break them down!

Its not always how you dress that makes you who you are its what comes out of your mouth that makes you who you are. People define us black people as ingnorant and uneducated people when sometimes that is true but these days there are more poor white people than black. Because theres one thing a black person knows how to do and that survive. But my point is you cant judge noone no matter how they act or look you shouldnt be imbarrsed or comcerned as long as you know who you are and how you project yourself.

    • anonymous says:

i would have to disagree. when you look at all the bad sections of towns and cities, they are primarily filled with black people. as well as the countless statistics, most recent here just the other day on FOX news saying that poverty was far greater in the black community than the white. with the white actually being the most prosperous in this country. we have a ways to go. how you dress matters, how you talk matters, who you associate with matters. if you put a fresh hamburger in a secure zip lock bag and place it at the bottom of the dumpster, I’m not going to dig thru the trash just to find the burger. same applies to people.

understand when some of us were growing up and have done things we do not want to remember. I am not looking for a excuse for any young children, and I am not taking up for just one race. I just remember my sister and her friends smoked pot and rolled the vw bettle they were riding in. Oh Woodstock was the biggest drug party ever, Freanik in Atlana was big untill that city decided to stop it. they have black bike week in texas and bike week in fla. Oh many white women slip into jamicia to get there groove on. By the way I was born in the projects in Denver and I seen poverty but I did not accept it. I started to work in Denver and then I went into the United States Marine Corps and they made me a man. But you know it was tough in the Marine Corps but I stuck in there and I retired from the Military with 22 years of service. I traveled to Japan, Germany and Holland and was deployed to Iraq. I work now still but everbody asked about race and I gave on example ” I was in charge of 60 soldiers in combat and when that IED went off in the convoy , you did not worry about race black , white, asian, hispanic or indian or religion. It was survival we wore the United States Flag on the right Shouler of our uniform’ Oh you know what color I seen it was RED, White and Blue. We are blessed in a country that has law and order and let me give you one more we were on a convoy to fix some bridges. We stopped and we seen these Muslim Women
with pots in a big pond, in black dresses with there face covered and the men were standing there watching them pull salt out the pond so there. We get caught in this country and in fight but there are people out there who want to blow up our way of life. I am Black man and thought this was propaganda about Iraq it true they do not care about america and our christians values. Oh but we are getting caught and fighting each other here in the US and China is trying to own America. Our education is slipping were are like 16th in the world but we point the finger at ourselves. The blame game oh its the blacks , oh its the whites oh its the asian but the rich get richer and even now the middle class is struggling. We have a African American President and it it not change anything. Now everybody is struggling to stay above water . But if we someone that does not look like us oh they are bad. No we are all Americans and that what I fought for the values the Freedom.
I went on to get my BS in Psychology. (Upper Iowa University).
this is my saying and I thought of this ” In order to move as a group , we have to move as a whole”
we have to move in groups blacks , whites , hispanic, indian, asian. To move with Democracy. To build our nation, bye. God Bless Americia

well i hate the white bastards that copy the “brown/black people” me and my dad both say whats that white boy going to do once he gets in prison and they fuck him up the ass then he wont be acting black anymore after that, not that im gay and shit its just what i think of when i see a skinny honky walking into walmart dressed talking and acting black & im pretty damn sure im not the only one who thinks of this shit & just what the hell are them dumb honkies gonna do if they have to run and their pants are falling down stop and pull them back up anyways i don’t dress or talk or act that way i just be my self and dress how i like to dress i don’t think it feels that good with my pants hanging below my ass im native American Indian. & not India. and fuck all you white people out their & when i see some respect you’ll gain some respect from me.

  16. D says:

Thank God a black person feels the same way I do sometimes. I go to U-Mass Lowell which has a really high black population and I keep finding myself surrounded by a bunch of loud black students that keep proving the stereotype about them right. They walk around swearing, gossiping, and dressing like gangsters and whores.

One time on the school van and the driver is black student and for the entire time drive he is listening to some awful rap song about killing other black people and shooting cops. It was really disturbing to see a college student actually enjoy listening to this trash and I just wanted to go up to him and say “Is this produced by the KKK because it sure sounds like it”.

  17. Oracle says:

I completely agree with your feeling of not wanting to be black. It is hard, because of the way some black people behave. Black people some of them that is, cannot seem to let go of the past. They carry around a victim attitude or disposition. They look for drama and behave as though they have something to prove. Believe it or not, some white people are angry too and believe the world owes them something. But their reasoning is different from black people. Both peoples share profound similarities, but for different reasons: anger from the past that they turn outward on the innocent and irrevelant and refusing to look inside themselves. It is far easier to point fingers and blame than to look inside and take responsibility. Many nationalities and races are faced with this delimma. Looking inside takes courage, but the benefits bring change for the better.

Why do some black people believe acting ‘ghetto’ is what they should be doing? Why is it glorified? Why are some black people delusional and believe lies? I will ask this question for white people too! Why do some black people expect negative experiences to happen to them, instead of thinking positive and expecting good things to happen to them? Now this is just my opinion, I believe the church has been fooling black people and some black people need to take a deeper look into what they are serving and why. And honestly ask themselves is it really working for them? Some black people should also learn how the mind works, learn their personalities (know yourself) and invest in psycho-therapy–that is, get some!

I say this frankly, because I am a black woman born and raised in America and I have observed black people and have encountered them on numerous occassions, but could never seem to maintain long lasting relationships with black women. They tend to fall out with me for no apparent reason, talk about me like a dog behind my back, believe that I personally should never want anything out of life, I am proper and behave like I’m white and that I’m going to hell because I am not Christian and I’m really the devil. They treat me as though I am beneath them and they carry an attitude of “Who in the hell do I think I am?!” In other words, who does this bitch think she is? Or bitch get real!!

A black person striving for happiness, perfection, takes very good care of his/her body, who is madly in love with life and appreciates life is hated by black people and others and has no place in the black community! I always thought is was strange that it is very easy for me to establish and maintain relationships with people who are white american and foreign.

Black people need to rise out of the collective stupor they have subjected themselves to so they can confront the challenges of reality and individualism.
